REPORT – Porto Vecchio, technical panels about the priorities of the project

Date: Friday , 6th March 2015

Porto Vecchio is one of the 33 projects promoted by the Interministerial Economic Planning Committee and by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism Dario Franceschini. In fact, the area is going to benefit 50 million funds for its restoration and development. In the last decade there have been other allocations for Porto Vecchio: for the restoration of the Storehouse 26, of the Hydrodynamic plant, of the Electricity substation, of the Storehouse 1 on the IV Pier and of the customs gates. Now it is necessary to start working, not only to carry on with the political action, but also to establish technical panels which provide the specialized knowledge that this operation needs. This kind of meetings should also be helpful to recognize the priorities of the project and to operate simultaneously on several sides, under constant supervision of technicians and port operators, with the aim to prevent technical mistakes in the new planning. Technical knowledge but also historical knowledge is required: without knowing the history of the hydraulic works and of the other interventions on the area carried out during the years, it would be impossible to work properly and not to waste valuable time.
